During National Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept 15-Oct 15, one group of parents organized and provided a unique experience for George Watts students – hands-on cooking lessons! It took 8 days, but they made sure that every classroom got to participate!

November 2009 is our second annual Poetry Month at George Watts.
Each morning, beginning November 2nd, a poem is read over the loudspeaker for the entire school community. During the first 2 weeks of the month, teachers, staff and parents will recite. During the third week, our students will share their favorite poems.

udget cuts have made fundraising all the more important this year. George Watts really needs our help in bringing in the money our teachers and students need for things like paper, lamination rolls, paper clips, tape, folders, ink cartridges, etc.

Bring your empty/old ink or toner cartridges from your printer to school to be recycled. The school can redeem these for $3 each! The school will use this money to purchase very-much-needed ink and toner cartridges for the school’s printers. Please tell your friends, family, and employers!!

SOS (Support Our Schools) is a group of 3 area magnet schools working concession stands at Duke Football, Duke Men’s Basketball, and Durham Bulls games to raise funds for our schools. Our school gets a portion of the concession stand proceeds – around $300 per game!!
