About
The George Watts PTA, or Parent Teacher Association, is a volunteer organization of parents, teachers, school administrators, and other concerned adults, who work together to make the school a better place for our children to learn, grow, and be safe. Membership is encouraged by all and costs only $4 per year (this money goes to cover George Watts membership in the state and national PTAs).
All are invited to PTA meetings, to sign up for the PTA listserv, and to participate on a PTA committee. See contact information below.

What Does PTA Do?
We come together because we believe that we can make this happen at George Watts Montessori. Our mission is to be a powerful voice for all children, to be a relevant resource for families and communities, and to be strong advocates for the education and well being of every child. We work together because we believe our children benefit when parents and teachers support each other and the school. Together we can provide resources, programs, and information that help all students, all teachers, and all families.
PTA organizes and/or provides money and support for:
- Field trip subsidies for every class
- Classroom supplies for every class
- Field Day
- Fall Carnival
- Staff Appreciation
- New books and technology for the Media Center
- Teacher assistant training
- 5th grade graduation
- Science materials
- Classroom technology
- Afterschool enrichment programs
- New playground equipment
- the “Living Classroom” (aka “Edible Garden”)
- Azaleas and other flowers around the school
- Litter pick-up around the school
- Raking, mulching, and new landscaping around the school
- A PTA listserv and web site for sharing information and staying connected
Without parents and teachers working together, none of these things would be possible. With our help, they will continue. With fresh ideas and enthusiasm, they will evolve and grow!
