WOW!

On Saturday, August 1, about 30 people from George Watts and Bountiful Backyards, along with community partners Clean Water North Carolina and Good Works, showed up for an intense 6 hours of digging the rain garden.

The group dug down about 2 feet to create a 150-square foot bed for the rain garden, laid down the pipes for the water, then filled the base with gravel.

Anyone who was there can tell you — it was a LOT of hard work and sweat and determination. I’m so thankful and moved by everyone who came out for the day and worked, many of whom are not even part of the school community, but who came from the larger community.

THANK YOU!!

At one point, I looked around and noticed that people had sweat dripping off the bottom hem of their shorts! Amazing, amazing hard work. It was a pleasure working alongside such a strong community of people.

Next comes the fun part … planting!!

Thanks, everyone!
