New Watts Gardening Club!
- Do you like gardening — or wish you had a garden?
- Do your kids like playing in the dirt?
- Do you like getting locally grown vegetables and fruit at the Farmers Market?
- Would you like your kids to be eating more healthful veggies?
- Would you like to be part of the next big improvement for the school grounds?

If the answer to any of these is “YES,” consider becoming one of the founding members of the Watts Gardening Club! In May we’ll find out whether we received a major grant we’ve applied for. But regardless of the outcome, we’re moving forward!
Now it’s time for the next steps, so we can break ground soon and start planting vegetables, fruits and herbs for our students to tend and sample. The Watts Gardening Club will be creating and planting the beds, planning a water-catchment system, making an “outdoor classroom” for teachers and kids to gather, and devising a tool-storage system. (All with some help from outside designers.)
You don’t have to know everything about GARDENING to be in this group. In fact, we could really use people with all sorts of interests and skills, so that we create the best possible Edible Garden. We need folks who can dig, build, think, teach, create, motivate, organize, nurture or simply weed.
Thanks for all the interest so far in this project! Please consider stepping up to put this “victory garden” project in the ground, so our kids can have more access to fresh, locally grown food.
Contact Alice Bumgarner (alice.b at earthlink.net), if you’d like to be part of the project in some way.
